The West Grantham Church of England Secondary Academy has a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant Level 2 with a strong behaviour and pastoral support focus. The post holder will be required to work 32.50 hours per week for 39 weeks per year. As part of this role, the successful candidate will support the Head of School and teachers across a range of child-centred activities which promote child development and learning, with a particular emphasis on supporting pupils to engage positively with school, including those with social, emotional and mental health needs.

As part of this role, the successful candidates will:

  • Act in accordance with school policies and procedures, particularly in relation to safeguarding, child protection and behaviour management.
  • Be responsible for particular learning areas, including planning and preparation of activities and meeting appropriate deadlines.
  • Assess identified pupils in and out of the classroom and prepare work programmes for groups of pupils, for example in literacy and numeracy.
  • Contribute to the development of individual education plans, assist with school visits, and help organise and participate in meetings with parents and carers.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

  • Is confident working with more challenging pupils, including those with social, emotional and mental health needs, and can promote development and learning and foster self-esteem, independence and positive engagement.
  • Can monitor pupils’ needs, keep accurate records, and support children with special educational needs with patience, consistency and care.
  • Works well as part of a team, builds positive relationships with staff, parents, carers and other professionals, and contributes to a safe and supportive school environment.
