Experienced Window Restoration Operative Required – Central London. We are currently carrying out a specialist window restoration project in Central London and are looking for experienced, qualified operatives to join our team. We also have an upcoming project involving the restoration of 30 fire doors, which will be completed to the same high specification, offering ongoing work for the right candidate.
Location: Central London – 10 minutes from King's Cross Station
Rate: £160 – £180 per day (depending on experience and ability)
Trial Period: 1-week trial at a lower rate (to be discussed)
Important: Applicants must be honest about their experience. Anyone misrepresenting their skills will be identified quickly and removed from the project. This is skilled restoration work requiring proper knowledge, technique, and attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Hand sanding timber windows and restoring window channels correctly
- Removing previous decorators' paint runs, sags, and poor finishes
- Filling damaged sections and rebuilding window areas where required
- Preparing surfaces to a high restoration standard
- Using correct restoration methods and maintaining quality workmanship throughout
Additional Upcoming Works: Restoration of 30 fire doors to the same high preparation and finishing standards. Detailed surface preparation, defect removal, filling, and refinishing.
Requirements (Essential):
- Relevant decorating qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Proven experience in window restoration and detailed woodwork preparation
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and maintain professional standards
- Reliable and punctual
Please note: Unqualified decorators will not be considered for this role.
Progression: If you demonstrate the required experience, skill, and knowledge during the trial period, your daily rate will be reviewed and increased accordingly. There is strong potential for ongoing work across multiple restoration projects.
