This is an opportunity to join our long established Throughcare and Aftercare Team. You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of our Throughcare and Aftercare service delivery. The team covers the whole of West Dunbartonshire and is based at the Council Offices, Church Street Dumbarton G82 1QL, where we have a duty desk. We predominantly work remotely from home and in the community.
The main duties are to provide appropriate information, advice and support to young people who are looked after and accommodated by this local authority. To help prepare them for the transitional phases of Care, Throughcare and then into Aftercare. The post includes case management responsibilities, report writing responsibilities and involvement in developing practice aspects of the service, as well as assisting young people to deal with all aspects of independent living.
The successful applicant will hold a diploma in Social Work and be registered with the SSSC. They will have experience of working with care leavers/care experienced young people, possess good communication skills, enjoy working with young people, and be able to work as part of a small team as well as on an individual basis.
This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
