As this post is part-time, the salary will be pro-rata to the hours worked.
The catering assistant will undertake, under the general direction of the cook or catering manager, the preparation, simple cooking and serving of food within the required areas in a residential care home. Duties will include basic food and beverage preparation (for example preparation of vegetables and snacks), simple cooking (for example reconstruction/heating of prepared food), serving of meals, general kitchen and serving duties (for example washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and hot trollies) and the cleaning of the kitchen, its surrounds and equipment.
You must have the ability to relate to older people and the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
