These posts are fixed term until April 2027. West Dunbartonshire HSCP - Children parental substance misuse, poor mental health and high levels of domestic abuse are key areas of concern. This post requires someone who:

  • Thrives in a fast paced and unpredictable environment and is able to support their team within this.
  • Is skilled in identifying, managing, and mitigating risk, often with limited information.
  • Can build positive relationships with children and families and other partners and be able to respectfully manage differences of view, while keeping the child at the centre.

The successful candidate will manage a team of skilled and experienced social workers. You will be involved in the coordination and management of service delivery for children and their families within the framework of relevant legislation, council policy and departmental procedures.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
