Job Description
The post is fixed term until 31/12/2025

Vacancies have arisen for Catering Assistants within the authority’s Dumbarton and Alexandria area. Preference of location will be discussed at the interview.
The post holder will require to assist in the day today operational requirements of the catering service within this premise as required. The successful candidate should be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
Duties will include assisting in basic food preparation and service of all foods in compliance with the Nutritional Requirements for Food and Drinks in schools (Scotland) regulations 2008, compliance with all the relevant legislation as required and setting up / clearing away equipment for food service. The post holder’s duties will include general cleaning to a high standard including crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, kitchen and dining room areas, staff rest room and toilets.
Applicants must hold an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate or similar
qualification as this is an essential requirement.
The post holder will require to adhere to Food Safety System, Safe Systems of work and Health and Safety Legislation. Knowledge of such legislations would be an advantage as would previous experience in this type of work.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here .
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.

In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.
