Job Description

This is a term-time post and the salary will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked.

West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking to appoint a Lead Early Learning & Childcare Officer at Levenvale Primary School Early Learning & Childcare Centre. The role involves leading and supporting the management of a flexible, high-quality, child-centred service that caters to the needs of children and their families.

You will contribute to providing a safe, caring, and stimulating nursery environment for all children. Responsibilities include developing and implementing a relevant curriculum aligned with national and local guidance, planning, recording, executing, and evaluating suitable activity programmes. You will monitor and record children\’s developmental progress through effective assessment practices and promote parental participation and engagement.

Applicants must have relevant supervisory experience working with pre-five children in an appropriate setting, along with experience in curriculum planning and delivery. A strong commitment to developing parental involvement is essential.

Candidates should possess a sound knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Pre-Birth to Three guidance, with a clear understanding of child development.

Education Services are dedicated to the care and welfare of young people in a childcare environment. Flexibility and adaptability to change are crucial qualities for this role.

Applicants must hold a BA in Childhood Practice (or equivalent) and be registered with the SSSC (Scottish Social Services Council), or be able to register within 6 months of appointment. Further information is available in the job profile.

Requirements

This role is considered a Regulated Role under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020. Membership of the PVG scheme is mandatory. Further details about the scheme can be found here.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG scheme or undergo an update check before a formal offer is made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
