Choices School is an Additional Support Needs (ASN) School for young people aged 12-18 serving the whole of the West Dunbartonshire Council area. Our young people have not sustained a mainstream school placement and present a range of ASN including Autism, ADHD, Tourettes, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Learning Difficulties, as well as some who have physical health needs.
All young people in the school present with a high level of anxiety. We present pupils across a range of qualification platforms including Qualifications Scotland, Kings Trust and Duke of Edinburgh Award. As well as traditional learning, we place a heavy emphasis on Outdoor and Vocational Learning and engagement with the local environment and community.
We currently have a vacancy for a class teacher. The role of class teacher will take into account the specialism of the successful candidate and will be tailored around the needs of the school and any special skills or attributes that could contribute to enriching the curriculum offered. This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher to make a real difference with these young people. The opportunity is open to all fully registered teachers, whether Primary or Secondary qualified.

Responsibilities
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council. The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are 'spent' under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment, any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.
