This is particularly true for young children who face the greatest disadvantages where additional support may be required to support our ambition to close the attainment gap.

To support this ambition the role has been developed to ensure that establishments benefit from an additional graduate who will be a teacher or a graduate level practitioner. This role is supernumerary to the staffing compliment of ELCC’s and is therefore not included in the ratios.

To support the implementation of the Raising Attainment Delivery Plan the post holders are expected to influence practice, take small groups of children, provide one to one support as required by focusing on literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing. To ensure positive outcomes for children they will plan exciting learning experiences to motivate and engage children to learn through play, observe and plan responsively to identified need, assess and plan for children’s progress.

This post provides an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our service at an exciting time of development and expansion within the Early Years Sector. If you have the skills and experience to support the implementation of the Blueprint for 2020 to deliver: high quality Early Learning and Childcare, excellence and equity for all children with regard to the development of physical, cognitive and social skills. This will be delivered through high quality experience for children which complements other early years educational activity to close the attainment gap.

Requirements: This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities: The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
