This post is fixed term until 26/06/2026. This is a part-time, term-time post the salary will be pro-rata'd to the hours worked. West Dunbartonshire Council is looking to recruit an enthusiastic and skilled Early Learning Childcare Officer to join our team at Clydebank Early Learning and Childcare Centre. Staff will work contracted hours in line with the needs of the service. The work pattern will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Main duties of the post include:

  • Contributing to the provision of a safe, caring, and stimulating nursery environment for all children.
  • Supporting and implementing a relevant curriculum in line with national and local guidance.
  • Planning, recording, implementing, and evaluating suitable programmes of activities.
  • Maintaining and recording children's progress and assessments.
  • Promoting parental participation in the learning process.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with pre-five children in a relevant setting.
  • Knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence (Early Level) and Pre-Birth to Three guidance.
  • A flexible approach and the ability to adapt to change.

Candidates must hold the NNEB (or modular equivalent), or HNC in Childhood Practice, or SVQ2 Social Services (Children and Young People) or SVQ3 in Social Services (Children and Young People). Successful candidates, if not already registered with SSSC as practitioners, will be required to gain this within 3 months of the date of your appointment.

Requirements

This post is considered a Regulated Role with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.

Responsibilities

The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
