A vacancy has arisen within the Audit & Fraud service for a highly motivated individual to join the Internal Audit team as an Internal Auditor. The role will assist the Shared Service Manager - Audit & Fraud in providing an effective and efficient internal audit service that adds value to the organisation. As part of the team, the Internal Auditor will provide independent, objective assurance to the Audit Committee on the adequacy and effectiveness of West Dunbartonshire Council's system of internal control.
As an Internal Auditor you will provide a disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the governance, risk management and control procedures as well as providing advice to add value and improve service processes and operations. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across services within the Council while reporting to the Shared Service Manager - Audit & Fraud.
The role will include:
- Planning and scoping internal audit reviews, including meeting key stakeholders,
- Drafting and agreeing audit Terms of Reference,
- Carrying out walkthroughs of processes to understand the design of key controls and carry out audit testing to identify control issues,
- Drafting high quality, clear and concise audit reports which identify issues, risks and agreed actions for the service area which will then be subject to audit follow up.
The preferred candidate will be required to complete a Level 2 Disclosure check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
