A vacancy has arisen for a relief 52 week senior catering operative in the Dumbarton area. This is a part time post with fixed work days (Mon, Tues and alternate Wednesdays).
The role of a Relief Senior Catering Operative is to work from a base location and as required, support other locations throughout their working week for service continuity within schools and offices in the area. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day operational requirements of the kitchen. Duties will include:
- Supervision of staff
- Food preparation and service of food in compliance with the Nutritional requirements for Food and Drinks in schools (Scotland) regulations 2008, and other relevant legislation
- Ensuring that equipment is cleaned, checked and maintained
- Following all Health and Safety guidelines
- Completing and recording all relevant paperwork
- Collection and reconciliation of West Dunbartonshire Council Catering income
The post holder requires to hold REHIS Food & Nutrition and REHIS Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificates. They will adhere to Food Safety Systems, Safe Systems of Work and Health and Safety legislation. A knowledge of such legislations would be an advantage, as would holding City & Guilds 706/1&2 or equivalent qualification.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.
