Requirements
- You will find the Head Teacher's report template attached to this advert; this MUST be completed by your Head Teacher and attached to your application form before the closing date. Please upload your Head Teacher Report in the 'COVER LETTER' section of the application; you are not required to write a cover letter.
- FOR VACANCIES AT DENOMINATIONAL SCHOOLS: Evidence of Catholic Church Approval - Applicants must seek Catholic Church Approval when submitting their application for the post and a copy of the Approval should be provided to the Chair of the Panel prior to the interview. Where this is “pending”, we will seek confirmation from our Church Representative that approval application has been submitted.
- Denominational Primary Posts: Applicants for permanent posts in a denominational primary school must also have the Catholic Teaching Certificate or Catholic Religious Education Certificate.
- Denominational Secondary Posts: Applicants for denominational secondary schools need to have RC Approval for the school they are applying to.
Responsibilities
- This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
- The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment, any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Education body and removal from the Register of the General Teaching Council.
