We're looking for an experienced Fabrication & Welding professional who wants to share their skills, knowledge and passion with those looking to make their mark in the sector.
As a Lecturer in Fabrication & Welding, you'll play a key role in inspiring, supporting and developing students as they gain the practical skills, confidence and knowledge needed to succeed in the sector.
You'll join a team committed to developing high-quality vocational learning, helping to shape the future of construction education and creating opportunities for students across the West of Scotland.
This is a role where no two days are the same. You'll combine your industry expertise with creativity, mentoring and coaching to help learners realise their potential.
Who we're looking for
We're keen to hear from candidates who bring strong industry experience and a genuine enthusiasm for developing others.
As a Lecturer within our Technology and Skills sector you must be qualified to a minimum of SCQF Level 6 in an Engineering qualification and have completed a recognised apprenticeship to SCQF Level 6 or equivalent. You must have evidence of appropriate continuous professional development and commercial experience at supervisory level within a relevant trade. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of fabrication and welding theory and workshop practices. Experience of various welding techniques including MIG, TIG and MMA as well as either CAD or Pipefitting is desirable. You must have significant experience of Health and Safety legislation and practice.
Candidates will be required to complete a skills test before progressing to an interview. The skills test includes Fabrication and three Welding tests, MAG/MMA/TIG Fillet weld, where the candidate should be proficient in at least one of these processes.
You will have the ability to engage and motivate learners from a wide range of backgrounds, as well as being someone who enjoys sharing knowledge, building confidence in others and making a positive difference to students' lives.
Teaching experience is welcome but not essential. If you're an experienced professional looking to take your career in a new direction, we'll support you to develop your teaching skills and qualifications.
