West Coast Motors is seeking a motivated Apprentice PCV Mechanic to join our busy engineering team on the Isle of Mull. This is an excellent opportunity for school leavers or individuals considering a career change, including those from other mechanical disciplines who would like to develop specialist skills in bus and coach engineering.

Located on the stunning Isle of Mull, this role offers the opportunity to build a skilled career while living and working in one of Scotland's most beautiful communities. As an Apprentice PCV Mechanic, you’ll earn while you learn, working alongside experienced mechanics to gain practical skills while studying towards a recognised qualification in Heavy Goods and Public Service Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (SCQF Level 7) through GTG Training in Glasgow.

About the role

Our engineering team plays a vital role in keeping our buses and coaches safe, reliable and ready for the road. During your apprenticeship, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on a modern fleet of passenger vehicles and learn skills required to become a qualified PCV Mechanic.

You will learn how to:

  • Carry out routine servicing and maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure they meet safety and legal standards
  • Remove, repair and replace major components, including engines, gearboxes and braking systems
  • Use specialist tools, equipment and diagnostic technology
  • Work safely and effectively within a professional engineering environment

About you

Previous mechanical experience is not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm, work ethic and commitment to learning.
