As a PCV Electrician based at our Depot in Glasgow, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the electrical and electronic systems that keep our buses and coaches on the road every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic faults on buses and coaches.
- Maintain, repair and install vehicle wiring, lighting systems, batteries, charging systems, alternators and starter motors.
- Use electronic diagnostic equipment and manufacturer software to identify and rectify faults.
- Inspect and test and maintain vehicle electrical circuits, control systems and electronic components.
- Repair and maintain CCTV, destination equipment, passenger information systems and telematics equipment.
- Assist with vehicle upgrades, modifications and the installation of new equipment.
- Support MOT preparation and vehicle inspections.
- Complete workshop documentation accurately and promptly.
- Work closely with colleagues to minimise vehicle downtime and maximise fleet availability.
- Maintain high standard of safety, quality and housekeeping at all times.
- What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience working as a Vehicle Electrician, Auto Electrician or in a similar vehicle electrical role
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, CAN bus systems and electronic control units
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals and diagnostic information
- Experience using diagnostic equipment and appropriate testing tools
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear and professional communication skills
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience working on buses, coaches or other public service vehicles
- Automotive, electrical or engineering qualification PSV driving licence
- Knowledge of passenger information systems and telematics systems
- IRTEC accreditation or an equivalent industry qualification
