Customer Experience & Front Desk Assistant (Part-Time)
About us
West Coast Martial Arts isn’t just a club. It’s where confidence is built, kids grow with courage, and adults rediscover what they’re capable of. Since 2005, we’ve been helping people in Preston feel more focused, confident and safer, with a team that genuinely cares.
The role
We’re looking for the first friendly face at our front desk: someone steady, welcoming and organised, who makes visitors feel right at home.
This isn’t a call centre or corporate gym desk. It’s personal. You’ll welcome people, answer questions, book classes and keep things running smoothly. Some evenings you’ll be the only one on shift, so we need someone calm, capable and proud to own the role.
Hours
- Saturday: 8:30am–1pm
- (Approx. 14.5 hrs/week, with occasional cover)
What you’ll do
- Greet members and visitors so they feel valued
- Book trial lessons and follow up with potential joiners
- Keep systems neat and up to date
- Support kids and parents when they are nervous
You’ll be great at this if you:
- Have 1+ year of customer service experience (retail, gyms, hospitality, reception etc.)
- Enjoy genuine conversations and put people at ease
- Are confident with kids and parents alike
- Are reliable, organised and comfortable working solo
- Can stay calm when things get busy and use common sense when it’s quiet
- Can keep multiple people engaged while still completing one task at a time professionally
Bonus points (not essential):
- Sales experience or confidence helping people take action
- Interest in martial arts, fitness or personal development
Why it matters
This isn’t just a front desk job. You’ll often be the very first person someone meets on their journey to becoming fitter, more confident and more resilient, whether they are five or sixty-five.
That first impression makes all the difference.
Free parking
Free club membership
