Senior Project Manager – IT Readiness
Location: West Bromwich (Head Office) – Hybrid Working
Salary: c. £70,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
For over 175 years, we’ve been growing and changing to meet the needs of customers and colleagues at the West Brom. We are embarking on a major transformation in our Digital & Core Banking space, replacing our core banking platform, introducing a new Digital app, and modernising our technology estate. We need a Senior IT Readiness Project Manager to help us move forward on this exciting journey.
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager for the IT readiness workstream of our digital transformation and core banking modernisation (Cloud; Applications, Data, and Managed Service). The Senior Project Manager will work alongside existing Portfolio and Project Managers, IT Service and Operations, and Change teams to ensure successful programme delivery and handover to support teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall end-to-end responsibility for IT readiness activities at individual workstream and programme level.
- Working closely with Programme Director, workstream leads, BAU Change teams, and Business Change lead to identify activities required for the new platform.
- Work with internal IT leadership and 3rd parties to establish service delivery framework and SLAs.
- Develop collateral documents to support the safe adoption of new technology.
- Conduct technical impact analysis and manage key production events.
- Agree acceptance criteria with IT support teams and track progress.
- Collaborate with architecture colleagues and stakeholders to understand technical impacts of proposed changes.
- Manage project resources to develop an effective team.
- Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
- Track project progress and costs to meet objectives, scope, and budget.
- Proactively manage changes to project scope.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Create and maintain RAID logs identifying risks/issues and management options.
- Provide project updates to stakeholders, Project Team, and PMO.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience in delivering financial services projects.
- Proven experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Project management certification (PRINCE2, Scrum, PMP).
- Knowledge of infrastructure technology stack, including Cloud technologies.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Ability to build and manage client/customer relationships.
- Experience reporting to steering committees of senior executives.
- Experience managing internal and external technology partners.
- Ability to analyse complex problems in a structured manner under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and approachability as a team worker.
- Experience in IT readiness during major core banking/digital transformation programmes.
- Strong project management skills with a focus on delivery to time, cost, and quality.
- Outstanding leadership and organisational skills.
- Experience in large scale, multinational Agile delivery.
- Experience of material outsourcing within a regulatory environment.
- ITIL Certification desirable.
