Job Title

Community Resource Centre Worker (Incl. Top-Up Shop)

Working time

  • 2-week pattern
  • Week 1: Monday 8:30am to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday 8am to 4pm
  • Week 2: Monday 1pm to 4pm, Tuesday to Friday 8am to 4pm, Saturday 9am to 1pm

Reporting to

Community Services Manager

Location

Frank Moran Centre, Melrose Avenue, Bletchley, MK3 6PA, but the role includes working at all council premises and other locations within the parish as required.

  • Purpose of the Job
  • To assist in the day-to-day delivery of community involvement activities and initiatives at the Community Resource Centre.
  • To support the promotion and development of opportunities for increasing activities and use of the Centre.
  • To manage and facilitate the fortnightly Saturday Top-Up Shop.
  • To assist at community events.
  • Specific Responsibilities
  • Community Resource Centre
  • To manage and attend the fortnightly Saturday Top-Up Shop i. e. ordering stock, completing relevant paperwork, setting up, managing of shop on the day and cleardown.
  • To assist in the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of the Centre, including:
  • Providing support in using online services
  • Responding to queries
  • Preparing and providing/selling basic refreshments
  • General housekeeping i. e. tidying up, replenishing stock, updating leaflets and posters etc.
  • To assist in the smooth running of activities and events at the Centre i. e. organising, setting up and clearing away, assisting visitors, organising refreshments etc.
  • To lead on the arrangements for the Living in the Moment group i. e. booking speakers, setting up refreshments, organising outings.
  • To manage small cash transactions and check deliveries.
  • To maintain records as required.
  • General
  • To ensure compliance with legislation and Council policies in respect of all aspects of work, whether delivered directly or in partnership with other agencies.
  • To take all reasonable care for the health and safety of self and others and to carry out all tasks and duties in accordance with the Health and Safety Policy of West Bletchley Council.
  • To be responsible for reporting health & safety and maintenance issues.
  • Carry out weekly and daily checks in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • To contribute towards the ongoing strategic development of the Council and to work with colleagues to implement the Council’s Business Plan.
  • To attend relevant meetings, as and when required.
  • To participate in training as required.
  • To assist with activities forming part of the Community Resource Centre service action plan, including attendance at events both at the Centre and other locations.
  • To assist in the kitchen at the weekly lunch club.
  • Such other duties as may be required commensurate with the level of responsibility of the post.
