Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge within a dynamic and supportive team? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Children and Family Services as a Social Worker reporting to the Team Manager for Children in Care.

The Role

Responsibilities

As a Social Worker within the Children in Care team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in our care. You will be responsible for:

  • Working directly with children and families to provide support and intervention
  • Conducting assessments and maintaining accurate and timely case records
  • Collaborating with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children
  • Attending court hearings and providing evidence as required
  • Implementing care plans and reviewing progress

In addition, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Team Manager to contribute to the overall management and leadership of the team.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration
  • Experience working within a Children in Care or similar team
  • Sound knowledge of legislation, regulations, and best practices relating to child welfare
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Resilient and adaptable, with a positive approach to challenges

Please note this role is fixed term for two year from start date – Funding limited project

This role requires the incumbent to have a car available at work to undertake his/her duties as they will be expected to undertake at least 1500 business miles per year. Essential Car User status attracts a lump sum allowance paid on a monthly basis as well as a free car parking space if he/she works at one of the Council’s corporate buildings.
