Job Description
Are you an experienced Social Worker looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking local authority? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join our Family Placement Team, reporting to the Team Manager for Family Placement. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality social care services for children and families, working alongside dedicated professionals in a collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Senior Social Worker within the Family Placement Team, you will support the Team Manager in operational management and team leadership. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working directly with children, young people, and their families to provide effective assessments and interventions.
- Ensuring the delivery of high-quality fostering and adoption services, in line with legislative requirements and best practices.
- Conducting needs and risk assessments, and implementing appropriate care plans.
- Providing guidance and supervision to less experienced Social Workers, handling complex cases.
- Collaborating with other professionals and agencies for holistic support.
- Contributing to the Team Manager\’s duties, such as attending management meetings, participating in panels, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Social Worker with registration with Social Work England.
- Extensive post-qualification experience, preferably within a local authority.
- Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and standards related to fostering and adoption.
- Experience managing complex cases and supervising junior staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Information:
- Fulfilling all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English, as per the Immigration Act 2016.
