The Role
As a Housing Allocations Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Housing Allocations Team Leader in the effective delivery of housing allocation services. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing housing applications and determining eligibility for social housing
- Conducting interviews and assessments to gather relevant information from applicants
- Advising applicants on their housing options and providing accurate information
- Maintaining accurate records and databases, ensuring data integrity
- Collaborating with other teams and external organisations to meet the needs of applicants
- Contributing to the development and implementation of housing allocation policies
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of housing legislation, particularly in relation to allocations and eligibility
- Experience in processing housing applications and providing advice to applicants
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise tasks
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals
