Are you an experienced and motivated Data Protection and Freedom of Information Paralegal looking for an exciting new opportunity within a dynamic legal team? West Berkshire Council is seeking a Paralegal to provide essential support in data protection and freedom of information matters, working alongside the Principal Lawyer to ensure compliance and deliver high-quality legal services.

About The Role

As a Data Protection and Freedom of Information Paralegal, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management and handling of data protection requests, including subject access requests.
  • Supporting the Principal Lawyer in providing legal advice and guidance on data protection and freedom of information issues.
  • Conducting research and analysis to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to data protection and freedom of information requests.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to provide advice on data protection implications.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Previous experience working in a legal environment, with a focus on data protection and freedom of information.
  • Good understanding of data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Familiarity with freedom of information legislation and its application.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple requests and prioritise effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
