Do you have experience using maps/GIS software and knowledge of asset data? Are you looking for a new job with fantastic career and development opportunities? If so, we have a great opportunity in our Asset Information Management Team, part of Engineering and Asset Management.

As a Wessex Water Trainee Asset Information Technician, you will undertake the creation and maintenance of wastewater and water supply network assets in a corporate GIS database, currently using ESRI ArcGIS/ArcPro. You will edit records in the system, which means spending significant periods of time focusing on the screen whilst maintaining attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Whilst performing an edit update, you will need to digitise and enter tabular information, and undertake topological and visual checks for completeness. Records sources will include as-laid drawings, asset surveys, and field-based sketches on maps.

Daily tasks will include editing our live GIS networks using data ranging from field data to Engineering drawings, accessing site data from Microsoft Dynamics and viewing it via Qlikview reports. You will liaise with other staff to ensure the data captured is of the required accuracy and quality. On occasion, you may also provide hard copy maps and reports to the business. This is an office-based role in our Bath Operations Centre or our Trowbridge Office at Kennet Way. During your 6-month probation, you will be expected to be office-based full-time, with a mixture of face-to-face training at one of our offices or online via Teams. However, once you are working independently, flexible working options are available up to a maximum of 2 days per week at home.

We are looking for a highly organised person who has excellent attention to detail and accuracy. You will be self-motivated, using your own initiative, and working under moderate supervision. You will also need to work confidently with other team members and colleagues throughout the company. Experience in the following would be beneficial, but full training will be provided for: using Microsoft Excel, Access and SQL query tools. Some knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, SharePoint, Dynamics, and Qlikview reporting would be advantageous.

A combined pension contribution of up to 20%. Career progression and professional development opportunities. 25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service. The opportunity to sell up to five days of holiday every year. The opportunity to buy up to ten days of holiday each year (subject to conditions). A healthcare package that allows you to claim back healthcare costs. Life assurance of up to eight times your salary. The opportunity to lease a new electric car through salary sacrifice (subject to conditions). Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers. One paid volunteering day each year. Enhanced family leave and pay arrangements. Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform. Support from trained mental health first aiders. A £1,000 referral fee if you recommend someone who is successfully recruited by us.
