Are you a good organiser, with good problem-solving skills? Do you have experience in managing and operating a water distribution network? If so, our regional control room are looking for a Network Response Controller.

What you\’ll do

This role is part of a six-person shift team integrated with the supply operations and network response team. It is a pivotal role co-ordinating our 24/7 response to water supply interruptions, reducing service failure and optimising performance throughout.

You will:

  • ensure a consistent tactical response to unplanned incidents and will monitor planned network interventions. This will include coordinating repairs and initiating supply restorations
  • liaise closely with our operations and repair teams, science, customer services, and work scheduling. Acting as a key point of contact, you will coordinate the response and inform stakeholders throughout an event to provide clear timelines, including customer numbers and assets affected
  • proactively identify innovative ways to reduce supply interruptions, and continuously develop smarter systems to deliver an effective and efficient response when issues arise on the network
  • Be required to participate in a 24/7 shift rota and undertake standby duties, including weekend working when required. This role will require the continuous improvement of your skills to demonstrate competency in the role.
  • What you\’ll need

  • ideally, you\’ll have proven experience in water supply management and operation
  • an eagerness to be proactive and creative in your approach to tasks on a day-to-day basis within a regulated industry
  • good PC literacy skills, as you will need to use and operate multiple IT systems, including telemetry alarms and data analysis.
