Are you a positive individual, highly organised, with a strong attention to detail and a motivation to make a difference to the environment? If so, we have an exciting role at the forefront of nature-driven innovation as a Nature Based Solutions Technician.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and lead the environmental monitoring programme for 36 proposed nature‑based sites - including wetlands, reedbeds and bioswales - across the region.
  • Design an environmental monitoring programme for each of the sites.
  • Develop your knowledge and understanding of hydrological and hydroecological monitoring methodology and standards.
  • Undertake in-field monitoring, including river flow, ecological and groundwater monitoring, as well as water quality and soil sampling.
  • Carry out quality assurance and analysis of existing data and data collected, reporting results to the wider team.
  • Collate data for permitting requirements and annual reporting on trial performance to our regulators at the Environment Agency.

What you'll need:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for liaising with internal departments and external regulators.
  • Innovative and positive approach.
  • An A-level in a science subject (or equivalent).
  • A good eye for detail and awareness of environmental compliance.
  • A willingness to learn and develop your skills through on-the-job experience.
  • IT competency in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • A desire to work both out in the field and in an office environment.
  • Experience with fieldwork and maintaining monitoring equipment (desirable, not essential).
  • Knowledge of wastewater networks and treatment processes (desirable).
  • Experience with GIS software packages and databases (desirable, not essential).
  • A full clean driving licence.
  • The ability to swim.
  • A great team player who is willing to work both independently and as part of a team.
