Are you a Mechanical Technician looking to take the next step in your career within the water industry? Do you have previous experience working in a 24/7 operational plant and machinery environment? If so, we have a great opportunity for a Mechanical or Dual Skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team.
This is a Monday to Friday role, but standby cover will be required for evenings and weekends on a rota basis, which equates to an availability payment of around £1,950 per year, plus a performance bonus of up to 5% of your salary.
To carry out this role, Wessex Water will provide you with a company van and fuel card, as well as all the tools and PPE needed to carry out the job to a high standard.
We also offer a holiday \’top-up\’ scheme where every July you get up to a 5% bonus for all overtime claimed over the last 12 months.
What you\’ll do
As a Maintenance Technician, you will enable and carry out planned preventative maintenance on the key assets at Avonmouth WRC
A big part of this role will be to continuously identify and look for ways to make improvements around site to increase the reliability of our plant, assets and site compliance.
Your other responsibilities will include:
- ensuring the effective operation of plant machinery and equipment is maintained
- carrying out fault finding, fault diagnosis and fault resolution
- planning and organising workloads
- producing condition reports on plant/assets
- visually inspecting and condition monitoring assets
- managing critical spares and spares lists
- delivering a first-class safety approach to work
- working in and around DSEAR Zones
- covering out of hours call outs.
What you\’ll need
- Level 3 Mechanical or Electrical NVQ/City & Guilds qualification or equivalent.
- To be able to work with minimal direct supervision, however, you will have support through various forms of communication.
- Mechanical maintenance experience is a must.
- Automated penstock experience (advantageous but not essential).
- Awareness and knowledge of IT and health and safety.
- A can-do attitude and flexible approach to work.
- A valid, full driving licence.
