We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to work closely with our Group Head of Tax in our growing Finance team based in Bath. We will look at part‑time and full‑time candidates for this role, with a discussion involving salary at the interview stages. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term role.

What you'll do

  • The Deputy Tax Manager will support the YTL group in ensuring corporation tax, VAT and PAYE compliance matters are dealt with.
  • You will ensure all legal tax requirements are met, all tax returns are filed accurately and on time with HMRC, and taxes are controlled efficiently.
  • You will also manage and control the preparation of tax disclosures in statutory and regulatory accounts.
  • Liaise with Auditors as part of their audit of tax work.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of the corporate tax returns.
  • Review monthly VAT returns prior to submission.
  • Review new starter forms as part of the ongoing IR35 process.
  • Review CIS returns and deductions prior to submission to HMRC.
  • Monitor compliance with the Senior Accounting Officer's requirements and Corporate Criminal Finance Act.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the group's tax position.
  • Ensure transfer pricing policies are clearly documented to support the position in the tax returns or to determine any adjustments required.
  • Identify and assess potential tax risks and discuss possible options with the Group Tax Manager.
  • Review and improve processes where possible.
  • Assist in other projects as directed by the Group Head of Tax, such as the introduction of Pillar 2 and other intra‑group financing arrangements.
  • Offer training and support to finance and other departments, fostering a deeper understanding of tax implications and compliance requirements.

What you'll need

  • Relevant tax experience in a corporate group or professional firm.
  • A relevant tax or accounting professional qualification.
  • In‑depth knowledge of UK tax legislation and regulations.
  • Ideally have experience in a range of international tax issues.
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to understand the commercial requirements within which the tax advice is given.
  • Self‑motivated and good at project management to bring issues to a conclusion efficiently.
  • Good interpersonal skills to help establish the necessary working relationships throughout the group and with external contacts and advisers.
  • Good communication and presentational skills to be able to explain tax issues clearly and train staff appropriately.
  • Ability to complete work within set time requirements.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and tax software packages (Onesource / AlphaTax).
