What you'll do

As part of a small team, you will be required to carry out essential inspection, testing, calibration and verification on a range of mechanical and electrical assets to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation.

This will include:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR)
  • The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
  • Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
  • Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR).

In addition, you will be responsible for the management of statutory inspection schedules, liaising with specialist contractors, assessing and prioritising remedial works, undertaking β€˜on the spot' repairs, and offering expert technical advice to other business units.

In the role, you will be travelling to different sites across our region, which covers Chippenham, Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater and everywhere in between.

What you'll need

You will need to be a self-motivated electrical or mechanical technician with the ability to work autonomously.

It would be beneficial for you to have a City and Guilds in Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391) and hold a valid CompEx qualification (units 1 to 4, 9 and 10 or 11).

Alongside this, you would be confined space trained with experience in operating and maintaining breathing apparatus, gas detection equipment and lifting equipment.

You will be required to manage inspection schedules, record test results and provide written reports to operational managers on asset condition; therefore, experience with IT-based tools, including NAPIT FastTest, would be advantageous.

  • Cashback and discounts from more than 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day each year.
