We are seeking a skilful and passionate Technical Wastewater Specialist to join our Wastewater Strategy team and drive the development of our sewage treatment solutions for PR29 and AMP9.

This is an opportunity to join Wessex Water at a time of unprecedented change for the company and sector, with the potential for you to make a huge difference within your role. Our investment plan proposes a doubling of investment over the next five years, and a large proportion of this is in wastewater.

As a Technical Wastewater Specialist, you will be pivotal in shaping the scale of our investment in the future, including the solutions that will be used as part of our wastewater and environmental programmes in AMP9. Consequently, you will have a huge variety of responsibilities and the ability to significantly influence all levels of the business plan and, in turn, the future of the water industry. You’ll need to be able to switch between the big picture and details quickly. This will include working with your colleagues to ensure alignment across our long-term strategies, such as our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP), Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) and Long-Term Delivery Strategy (LTDS).

What you’ll need:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent, preferably a chartered engineer or equivalent status
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Personal skills to enable effective working with people at all levels
  • Expert knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and options
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant financial and environmental regulatory frameworks
  • Knowledge of wastewater operations and the cost of proposed investments
  • Experience in asset management and its application to wastewater treatment
