We're looking for an Asset Reliability Engineer to play a key role in strengthening and maintaining Wessex Water's asset maintenance and reliability capability. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role focused on ensuring that maintenance strategies, asset data and processes are consistent, reliable, and aligned with business needs. You will be supported by, and responsible for managing, the Asset Reliability Administrator. You’ll contribute to improving how maintenance is planned and delivered, supporting better asset performance and enabling data‑driven decisions across the organisation.
You will be working across Engineering, Operations, IT, and Asset Management teams, helping to ensure our systems and processes are optimised, standardised, and continuously improved. You’ll act as a key link between asset information, system functionality and operational delivery, helping to embed best practice and drive long‑term performance improvements. You’ll also develop your expertise as a subject matter specialist, supporting the evolution of asset management systems, maintenance strategies and data governance across the business.
What you’ll do:
- Translate asset management strategies (eg, RCM, FMECA) into practical, risk‑based maintenance plans aligned with asset criticality and business needs.
- Maintain and optimise asset maintenance schedules, including onboarding new assets and removing retired equipment.
- Develop and enhance Asset Operation and Care Plans to support reliable asset performance.
- Ensure maintenance instructions, templates, and plans are accurate, consistent, and up to date.
- Help support the governance, optimisation, and continuous improvement of Work and Asset Management Systems, driving efficiencies in scheduling, usability and automation.
- Improve asset data quality, integrity and consistency across systems, enabling better reporting and decision‑making.
- Collaborate with IT, Engineering, Operations and Projects teams to deliver system enhancements and resolve issues.
- Provide insights to support performance, reliability, and investment decisions.
- Provide expert guidance to stakeholders and site teams to improve maintenance delivery and workload optimisation.
