Assistant Engineer

What you'll do

• Working in the Network Delivery team within the Engineering and Asset Management Department, you will undertake investigations and deliver projects under the guidance of a principal engineer.
• High‑level assessments of flooding due to inadequate hydraulic and root cause analysis of pollution incidents.
• Concept design and delivery of Sustainable Drainage Solutions (SuDS).
• Partnership working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Commissioning surveys of Wessex Water sewerage and waste assets.
• Investigating inflow and infiltration into the sewerage network.
• Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Hydraulic analysis using computer models (InfoWorks ICM).
• Technical report writing and project presentation.
• Mentoring students and graduates.

What you'll need

• A degree or equivalent in an engineering, science or mathematics‑based subject at 2.1 or above.
• An understanding of sewer hydraulics (essential).
• Previous experience in design and construction would be preferred.
• Experience in SuDS would be advantageous.
• Excellent IT and communication skills.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
• The ability to prioritise workloads to meet targets.
• A full UK driving licence.
