Do you like working outdoors? Do you have the confidence to learn and undertake a range of technical and dynamic work tasks? If so, we have a great opportunity within our Supply Sampling team.

This role will see you travelling across the picturesque Wessex Water region, especially around Shaftesbury, Blandford Forum and Salisbury areas. A company vehicle and all tools needed to carry out the role are provided.
What you\’ll do

We schedule and carry out the regulatory sampling programme for the water and sewerage services.

In addition, we provide sampling and analytical services to a range of customers including businesses, local authorities, drinking water providers and environmental consultants.

This multifunctional role involves regulatory water and cryptosporidium sampling, along with various survey work, all of which comply with UKAS accreditation standards. The role offers a great opportunity to learn and develop your career in this exciting and challenging industry.

Your main duties will include taking representative water quality samples from a variety of sources, including treatment works, reservoirs and customer properties across your local area, dealing with any complaints in a professional and efficient manner, as well as ensuring we comply with industry regulations and providing our customers with a high-quality service.

You will be required to work a rota which involves working some bank holidays, one weekend in four, and some standby.
What you\’ll need

You will:

  • have a positive and flexible approach to supporting team colleagues and enjoy the challenge of working outdoors while prioritising and managing your own dynamic workload
  • have good organisational skills
  • have good attention to detail and be comfortable applying a range of sampling procedures
  • ideally possess A levels in English, maths and science (or equivalent) as a minimum
  • be computer literate with Word and Excel, and be comfortable working with multiple phone applications including Outlook, GIS apps and SharePoint.

A full clean manual driving licence is essential and due to the nature of the work, you would need to be located close to the area the role is based in.
