Are you an Environmental Manager who can lead a detail‑oriented, analytical team that is passionate about environmental compliance? If so, this role is for you! The Wastewater Compliance Manager will oversee a team responsible for regulatory sampling, reporting and notifications, monitoring and assessing water recycling centre and Industrial Emission Directive (IED) compliance, compliance audit programme and liaison with the Environment Agency.
What you’ll do:
- Lead on the development of wastewater compliance policy, strategy and management
- Ensure alignment with environmental and quality regulations, guidance and codes of practice
- Monitor and report compliance internally and to regulators
- Identify risks and provide advice on preventative and corrective actions
- Stay up‑to‑date with changes in environmental regulations and guidance
- Communicate impacts to the business
- Ensure timely, cost‑effective implementation of compliance measures
- Represent Wessex Water at national forums
- Lead engagement with regulators (EA, Ofwat, DEFRA)
- Provide expert advice on all wastewater compliance matters
What you’ll need:
- A degree‑level qualification within STEM or a related subject, or at least 5 years of experience in the water industry or in a data analysis and reporting role
- Strong computer literacy with good knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint Online and reporting tools such as Power BI
- Ability to confidently produce accurate, well‑structured written English for formal letter writing and third‑party correspondence
- Self‑motivation, the ability to work in a dynamic environment and to work independently as well as part of a team; excellent organisational skills are also key
- Attention to detail, competency in investigating and resolving issues and excellent time‑management skills to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills; effectively and clearly communicate technical information within the team, to the wider business and to regulators
- In‑depth knowledge of environmental legislation, risk management and workplace initiatives
- Experience in an environmental management role at a similar level
- Experience working in a regulated industry and within a quality management system
