We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the Sewer Rehabilitation team, which delivers capital schemes across the region, developing and delivering the best solutions for our customers and the environment. Our team has won numerous awards for innovation and sustainability and has a proven track record of delivering cutting‑edge solutions, including trenchless technologies such as Cured‑in‑Place Pipe (CIPP) lining. We are also proud members of the UK Society for Trenchless Technology (UKSTT), promoting best practice and continuous improvement in no‑dig solutions.
What you'll do
As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of planned sewer rehabilitation projects from outline design, through to construction and completion to quality, time and cost objectives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing all aspects of the planning phase, ensuring robust preparation for successful delivery
- Collaborating with colleagues in environmental, Legal, Estates, Civils and Streetworks teams
- Managing financial reporting, contractor relationships, and third‑party negotiations
- Ensuring compliance with Wessex Water policies and CDM obligations
- Exploring the best solutions for each challenge and supporting the development of innovative trenchless rehabilitation techniques, including CIPP lining.

What you'll need
We're looking for someone with a positive can‑do attitude who has a great work ethic and is outcome‑focused. You will be well‑organised, proactive, and a confident communicator both verbally and in writing. Ideally, you will be from the water industry and/or have a construction background with experience in project delivery. It is essential that you have a safety‑first approach and good organisational skills. In addition, we are looking for:
- HNC level education or higher in Civil Engineering, Construction or a water industry‑related qualification
- Competence with Microsoft Office software packages and familiarity with GIS mapping software (or a willingness to learn)
- A valid UK driving licence
- The willingness to work across the Wessex Water region in the management of projects and schemes.
- Knowledge of trenchless sewer renovation techniques would also be an advantage, but is not essential.
