Sales Manager at The Glasshouse Hotel

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Edinburghs finest boutique properties. The 77-bedroom property is full of unique elements, including The Snug boasting a whisky collection of over 160 single malts and blends and our stunning rooftop garden. The Glasshouse is Scotlands only hotel part of the prestigious Autograph Collection.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth by developing and executing sales strategies to attract and retain group business, corporate clients, and leisure travelers. This role is critical in expanding The Glasshouse Hotels presence within the local and international markets. With a focus on group business and maximizing occupancy, the Sales Manager will ensure that the hotel achieves its sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining brand standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience within the Marriott , leveraging its network and resources to enhance business opportunities for The Glasshouse Hotel. A deep understanding of the Edinburgh market, along with its seasonal trends and competitive landscape, is essential.

Key Responsibilities of the Sales Manager:

  • Group Business Development: Identify, attract, and negotiate with potential group business clients, including corporate meetings, events, and social gatherings. Maximize occupancy by targeting group bookings and partnerships with event planners, DMCs, and corporate entities.
  • Account Management: Cultivate relationships with existing clients and accounts, ensuring repeat business and long-term partnerships. Provide tailored packages and experiences to meet client needs.
  • Market Research & Local Knowledge: Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the local Edinburgh market, including competitors, trends, and key demand periods. Identify new business opportunities and collaborate with the marketing team on initiatives to capture local and international clientele.
  • Marriott Partnerships: Utilize previous Marriott experience to navigate and leverage the brands sales channels, loyalty programs, and internal resources to increase visibility and drive revenue.
  • Revenue Optimization: Collaborate with the revenue management team to maximize RevPAR (Revenue per Available Room) and occupancy rates. Strategically price group bookings to ensure a balance between profitability and client satisfaction.
  • Sales Reporting & KPIs: Monitor sales performance, report on key metrics, and forecast future sales. Prepare monthly and quarterly sales reports for senior management, outlining achievements and growth opportunities.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Lead site inspections, client meetings, and networking events to showcase the hotels unique offerings and build relationships within the community.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., Food & Beverage, Events, Rooms) to ensure seamless service delivery for group bookings and corporate events.
  • Brand Representation: Represent The Glasshouse Hotel at trade shows, networking events, and industry meetings to raise the hotel's profile and generate business.

Key Skills and Experience Required for the Sales Manager:

  • Previous experience in a Sales Manager role within the hospitality industry, ideally with experience in Marriott properties or similar global brands.
  • Proven track record of generating group business and managing corporate accounts.
  • Strong knowledge of the Edinburgh market and its unique demand drivers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong understanding of hotel sales systems and CRM tools (e.g., Marriotts CI/TY system).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on achieving sales targets and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
