The Role

This is a full-time role, working within the Legal & Land Access Department, providing administrative assistance to the Network Planners & Rural Planners in dealing with utility companies and ensuring their legal documentation is processed in accordance with our internal systems and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • UTILITIES
  • Handling various utilities processes to ensure matters are dealt with in a proactive manner and to keep turnaround time to the minimum.
  • Attend site meetings with utility companies to ensure procedures are followed correctly and to build/maintain relationships with the utilities’ representatives.
  • Communicating with utilities companies and building strong relationships to improve efficiency in utilising their services.
  • Ensuring the cost-effective DNO solutions are provided for new active sites.
  • Pro-actively ensuring we have power supply live before the network is built.
  • Constantly following up various utilities to ensure turnaround time is kept to the bare minimum and where possible to negotiate a more efficient and pragmatic process.
  • Taking ownership of four regional teams' utilities requests and providing them with an efficient and prompt service, as well as keeping the Regional Delivery Managers up to date.
  • Resolve any ongoing issues with landowners regarding power supplies and find an alternative solution that will be a win-win situation.
  • Learning and developing new procedures especially when Wessex Internet builds in new areas.
  • Keeping internal records up to date using CRM and other systems.
  • LEGAL
    • Providing day-to-day assistance and advice to planning teams internally, under guidance of in-house lawyers.
    • Processing legal agreements on our internal systems.
    • Submitting applications to the Land Registry to register our Code Agreements.
    • Liaising with the Land Registry to deal with any requisitions or queries.
    • Assisting in drafting and proof-reading legal documents.
    • Filing and organising all complete legal agreements.
    • Corresponding with landowners and if applicable, their legal/professional advisors.
    • Generating digital signatures for legal documents.

    Requirements

    • A proactive “can-do” attitude is essential for this role, as well as being pragmatic and good at resolving issues.
    • Ability to prioritise workload in a changing, multi-demand environment.
    • Very strong organisational skills, persistence, attention to detail and time management.
    • The ability to work well with a wide variety of people.
    • Excellent communication, both oral and written.
    • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge, and quick ability to learn other systems (prior knowledge of Salesforce and QGIS a strong advantage, but not essential).
    • Basic understanding of property law an advantage.

    Salary: £28,000 - 32,000 per annum DOE

    Role Type: Full time, 40 hours, with opportunity for flexible working hours

    Location: Office-based (near Blandford Forum, Dorset) with regular site visits (mileage paid); please note that this role is not suitable for home working (except very occasionally by arrangement)
