Wessex Internet is a fast‑growing broadband provider bringing full fibre connectivity to rural and market town communities across the South West. As a Network Planner, you’ll be a key contributor to the design and development of our fibre network, supporting projects ranging from remote hamlets to larger urban areas. Working closely with Build, Engineering, and Delivery teams, you’ll produce high‑quality, build‑ready FTTP designs and maintain accurate network records throughout the project lifecycle.

What you’ll do:

  • Plan and design P2P and XGSPON fibre networks using varied build methods (PIA, rural plough, directional drilling, trenching).
  • Produce fibre mapping, PON area plans, cabinet‑to‑CAP designs, SLDs, and splice matrices.
  • Ensure designs meet budget, technical standards, and network design principles.
  • Submit validated designs to build platforms and support change requests during construction.
  • Liaise with internal teams, external partners, and third parties to meet milestones and delivery targets.
  • Accept as‑built information, update network maps, CAP statuses, and UPRN records.
  • Generate project documentation and reports including asset lists and meterage.
  • Maintain accurate GIS network mapping using Vetro, Render, and QGIS.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong knowledge of XGSPON and point‑to‑point fibre architecture.
  • Experience with CAD and/or GIS tools.
  • FTTP telecoms planning and design experience (desirable).
  • Understanding of urban and rural network build methods.
  • Degree in Surveying, Geography, Geology, or similar (advantageous).
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality of design outputs.
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused approach to problem solving.
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast‑paced, evolving delivery environment.
