We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Contractor Manager to oversee our subcontractor and turnkey delivery partners supporting the rollout of our full fibre network. This is a critical operational role responsible for ensuring contractor‑led build activities are delivered safely, efficiently, compliantly, and to the highest standards of quality. You'll work closely with internal delivery teams and external partners to drive accountability, maintain programme performance, and support the successful expansion of our network infrastructure.

What you'll do:
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors and turnkey delivery partners across the full fibre build programme, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and in line with operational and contractual requirements.
- Lead contractor onboarding and mobilisation activities, ensuring all compliance documentation, accreditations, insurances, and training records are in place and maintained.
- Monitor contractor performance against KPIs, SLAs, quality standards, and programme targets, taking corrective action where required.
- Carry out contractor assurance, compliance, and quality reviews across operational delivery activities, ensuring adherence to Health & Safety, Streetworks, environmental, and operational standards.
- Act as the key escalation point between internal operational teams and external delivery partners, resolving risks, blockers, and delivery challenges proactively.
- Review and validate contractor valuations, payment applications, and associated commercial documentation, ensuring accuracy and cost control.
- Work collaboratively with internal programme, planning, and operational teams to forecast future delivery requirements and ensure contractor capacity aligns with programme demand.
- Drive continuous improvement across contractor management, operational delivery, quality assurance, and programme performance.
- Provide leadership and day‑to‑day management to Contractor Supervisors, ensuring clear accountability, strong communication, and consistent operational standards.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience in a Contractor Manager, Delivery Manager, Build Manager, or similar role within telecoms, utilities, or infrastructure delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of full fibre network build activities, including civils, cabling, reinstatement, streetworks, and contractor‑led delivery.
- Demonstrable experience managing subcontractors and delivery partners across large‑scale operational programmes.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation, compliance standards, and operational quality requirements within infrastructure or telecoms environments.
- Commercial awareness with experience reviewing contractor valuations, payment applications, and delivery performance against contractual agreements.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and manage competing priorities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across operational teams and external partners.
- A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to identify risks early, drive accountability, and support operational improvements.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across operational build areas.
