Overview
Senior Buyer position at Wesleyan. This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract with hybrid working (office based in Birmingham) – currently 1-2 days in the office per week, with flexibility to meet business needs. Closing Date: 27th August 2025.
Salary: Up to ÂŁ56,400 dependent on skills and experience

Your role
Working within our Procurement & Supplier Management Team, as Senior Buyer you will be responsible for sourcing and selecting suppliers for the procurement of goods and services on behalf of Wesleyan. You’ll evaluate the market effectively, identifying suppliers and following our processes to ensure that suppliers to our business provide the best overall value. You’ll run tender processes, negotiate agreements for sound outcomes for Wesleyan, and will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the optimal route of supply.
What you’ll be doing
- Negotiating Supplier Agreements to obtain the best possible terms while maintaining a good relationship with them
- Leading on Tender processes, leveraging every opportunity to optimise the outcome for Wesleyan
- Contributing to the delivery Procurement & Supplier Management Team\\\’s strategy
- Contributing to the financial performance of the team via tactical and strategic cost savings initiatives and revenue opportunities
- Sourcing and evaluating suppliers (new & incumbent), determining the best source of supply for each product or service base on price, quality, delivery time and other criteria
- Previous experience of managing end-to-end procurement processes, gained in a similar environment
- Previous indirect procurement and contract management experience
- Commercially minded and proficient negotiator
- Ability to create positive relationships with suppliers
- Ability to provide management information to assist sourcing and contract management process
- Proven track record in building relationships, influence and act as an authority across the organisation up to senior management level
- Able to demonstrate a high standard of planning, organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work accurately under pressure both in terms of volume of work and deadlines from multiple sources – demonstrating the ability to multi-task effectively
