Make a Difference in Group Financial Accounting

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Group Financial Accounting team, where you'll broaden your experience and further develop your financial accounting skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

You'll play a key role in helping to maintain accurate accounting records across the Group's regulated businesses and the Society, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, financial controls, and company policies.

This role offers excellent exposure to a wide range of financial accounting activities within a financial services setting. You'll have the opportunity to build your technical expertise, strengthen your financial control and reporting skills, and gain valuable insight into the operations of a large and complex organisation.

Your Impact

Here’s how you’ll make a difference:

  • Assist with completion of subsidiary bank account reconciliations in accordance with CASS (FCA Client Asset Sourcebook), gaining a competent understanding of CASS rules and their application.
  • Assist with core monthly accounting processes within Group Finance such as journal posting, invoice posting and general ledger account review and analysis.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations in line with internal deadlines, investigating and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the completion of various regulatory returns to e.g. HMRC, FCA and other regulatory bodies as required.
  • Complete additional financial analysis as necessary to support and investigate ad hoc enquires and issues, liaising with relevant cross team stakeholders.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to work, identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Complete other ad-hoc finance tasks as required, such as assisting with external auditor enquiries.

  • Be an Intermediate user of standard Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Be able to learn new tasks quickly.
  • Demonstrate a proficient level of numeric literacy, with ability to problem solve.
  • Have good attention to detail.
  • Be a keen collaborator and team player with a flexible approach to work, who can work on their own initiate with some supervision.

You’re likely to be

  • A Graduate with a relevant degree seeking to pursue a career in accounting or already training (self-funded) for a recognised Accounting Qualification.
  • Some experience within a financial services environment is desirable.
