The role:

  • As a Workshop Instructor, you’ll play a key role in delivering hands‑on engineering training to military students at the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.
  • Working as part of a highly skilled and supportive team, you’ll help learners develop essential technical skills that form the foundation of their careers in the Armed Forces.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities:

  • Delivering practical workshop training in core engineering skills such as fitting, drilling, and grinding.
  • Preparing and developing engaging teaching and learning materials to support course delivery.
  • Supporting and guiding students throughout their training to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Assessing learner progress and providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintaining a safe and effective learning environment within the workshop.

This role is full time and based on site at MOD Lyneham, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Essential experience of the Workshop Instructor:

  • Using measuring and calibration tools such as gauge blocks and slip gauges.
  • Manufacturing and fabricating to engineering drawings.
  • Strong craft and technical abilities.

Qualifications for the Workshop Instructor:

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
