Lead Complex Projects That Power National Security

The Role

As a Senior Project Manager, you will take a leading role in the successful delivery of complex, high-value infrastructure projects that are critical to both nuclear defence and civil decommissioning and fuels programmes. You’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week. We offer flexible hybrid working patterns, with typically 2–3 days per week onsite, alongside occasional travel to other UK locations as required.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

  • Lead governance arrangements, establishing clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities across the full project lifecycle
  • Drive project performance through robust financial planning, cost control, and the effective application of Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques
  • Champion continuous improvement by engaging project teams and adopting innovative tools, practices, and technologies
  • Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, security, environmental, and quality (HSSEQ) compliance across all project activities
  • Manage and inspire multidisciplinary teams spanning engineering, procurement, and commercial functions to achieve project objectives

Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager:

  • Proven experience delivering major infrastructure projects with values exceeding £50 million
  • A strong track record of managing full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project lifecycles, from concept and design through to construction and commissioning
  • Demonstrated leadership of large, multidisciplinary teams (typically 50+ people) within complex and highly regulated environments
  • Practical expertise in applying Earned Value Management to enhance project control, reporting, and decision-making
  • Experience gained within regulated industries such as nuclear, defence, utilities, petrochemical, or aerospace sectors

Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager:

  • Project Management certification or accreditation (such as Association for Project Management or Project Management Institute) is advantageous

Security Clearance
