The Role:
As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you will play a vital role in delivering complex engineering solutions across the nuclear lifecycle—from new build to decommissioning. You will lead the design and integration of safety‑critical systems that ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance in highly regulated environments. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of defence and clean energy, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects that truly matter. You will develop your expertise, influence major programmes, and contribute to work that protects people, infrastructure, and the environment. This role is full time, 37 hours per week, based at any of our main UK locations. Hybrid working patterns are available and travel to other Cavendish and customer sites will be expected.
Day‑to‑day, you will be required to:
- Deliver electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering designs that meet safety and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to support nuclear projects across operations and decommissioning
- Engage with internal stakeholders, regulators, and supply chain partners to ensure compliance and integration
- Produce and review technical documentation including calculations, specifications, and safety case inputs
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and quality across engineering activities
Essential experience of the Senior EC&I Engineer:
- Demonstrating experience designing and delivering electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
- Applying engineering standards such as IEC 61508 or BS EN 61511 within regulated environments
- Working within multi‑disciplinary teams on complex engineering projects across the lifecycle
- Collaborating with stakeholders including clients, regulators, and project teams
- Producing and reviewing high‑quality technical documentation and engineering outputs
Qualifications of the Senior EC&I Engineer:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline
- Chartered status or working towards professional registration is desirable
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain UK - Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
