About the Programme
This exciting apprenticeship is designed to develop the Project Managers of the future. From day one, you’ll be a key member of our project management team, gaining practical on‑the‑job experience within professional project environments and collaborating across a huge range of engineering frameworks. You’ll work on a diverse range of complex projects for customers across the nuclear sector. You’ll focus on the total lifecycle of the projects you’re working on, from design through to manufacture, construction, and commissioning. With support from our project management experts, you will become experienced in:
- Monitoring project schedules
- Managing stakeholders
- Controlling risks and changes
- Ensuring smooth delivery of projects
Along the way, you’ll develop leadership and management skills. Completing the programme will equip you with a Level 4 qualification and the skills you need to pursue a career as a Project Manager.
Your Education/Training
You will be working towards the Level 4 Associate Project Manager Apprenticeship Standard, which is designed to complement your practical, on‑the‑job experience and support your development as a project professional. You will be studying at Weston College, an award‑winning provider of further and higher education based in Weston‑Super‑Mare. The college supports nearly 30,000 learners across the UK with high‑quality education and vocational training. The apprenticeship programme spans two years, during which you will attend virtual lessons one day every other week. On the alternate weeks, when no lesson is scheduled, you will be expected to dedicate that same day to completing your off‑the‑job training hours. If you’re based in Bristol, you’ll also have the option to attend lessons in‑person. Upon starting the apprenticeship, you will be eligible to become a student member of the Association for Project Management (APM) – a key step towards professional recognition. Following successful completion of the programme, you will be eligible to progress to Associate Membership of the APM.
Future Prospects
Upon completing your apprenticeship, you will progress to the role of Project Assistant. From there, we will provide support and guidance to help you advance on your career path towards becoming a Project Manager – and beyond. Through the Babcock Role Framework, you’ll have a clear view of how your career can progress, with mapped‑out pathways, development opportunities and the tools you need to get wherever you want to go.
