Location: Swindon Treatment Works, Swindon, Wiltshire

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 4 On 4 Off, 40.25 hours (working both earlies and lates)

Salary: OTE £50,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About the Role

  • We are looking for customer‑focused people to join our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver solutions to wastewater network and drainage problems.
  • Travel to residential sites via a HGV in a two‑person team, around the region, powering a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
  • Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
  • Deliver good customer service.
  • Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • Comply with health and safety responsibilities, including PPE and safe site setups.
  • Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment.
  • Safely access vehicle cabs, sites and offices using correct procedures (e.g., three‑points of contact).
  • Manipulate, including loading and unloading to/from tanker pipe storage trays, flexible pipework in a safe manner using correct manual handling techniques.
  • Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE or utilising the lone worker system.
  • Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
  • Liaise with the client regarding process and any updates.
  • Provide support to colleagues.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
  • Report any defects or malfunctions.
  • Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
  • Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will be hard‑working and respectful, and comply with health and safety standards.
  • Experience in the use of high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
  • Other drainage qualifications (e.g., NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
  • You must have a minimum of a HGV Class 2 licence, completed the CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence), and have an up‑to‑date digital tachograph card.
