We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water! We are recruiting for a number of Pollution Response Technicians, covering the whole of Hampshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a new career with us here at Lanes Group!

We operate 24/7 and as such you are required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training, PPE and use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.

Position: Pollution Response Technician

Location: Millbrook Depot (Southampton, Hampshire)

Job Type: permanent, full‑time

Hours: 5 days on 2 days off, 45 hours per week (this shift pattern will mean that at times you will be working weekends)

Salary: £30,500 per annum

About the role:

  • Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Southern Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste‑water network and drainage problems.
  • First response to all pollution related incidents/jobs raised.
  • Oversee and supervise any pollution site, ensuring safe, efficient and effective management of the incident.
  • Initiate initial mitigation of pollution to minimise impact to the environment and wildlife.
  • Lead the investigation to establish the cause of the pollution.
  • Plan and organise ongoing mitigation or follow on works required.
  • Oversee and facilitate the work required to ensure the issue is resolved quickly and to the correct standard, including facilitation of external contractors required for remediation works to ensure restoration of services.
  • Ensure all evidence is captured to support the investigation of a pollution incident, or to demonstrate that no pollution has occurred, ensuring class leading data and image capture in Big Change.
  • Delivering world class customer service and managing stakeholders such as the client, the Environment Agency and local authorities.
  • Maintaining a no compromise approach to H&S practice while carrying out works.
  • Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibility towards them.
  • Any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.

About you:

  • The ideal candidate will be hard working and respectful and comply with health and safety standards.
  • Experience in the use of High Pressure Jetting equipment is useful but not essential.
  • Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.
  • You must have a full UK drivers licence.
