In this training role, you'll use your submarine Ship Control background to deliver high-quality instruction, maintain and update Astute Class Ship Control courseware, and support learners as they develop the skills needed to operate confidently within a modern submarine control environment. You'll assess trainee progress through written and practical evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and help guide their development through coaching, mentoring, and targeted interventions. Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Delivering Astute-class ship control training in a specialised facility
  • Reviewing and evaluating technical data and change notifications
  • Ensuring training meets prescribed standards, quality, and cost targets
  • Supporting students with varying levels of experience
  • Liaising with training design teams to provide subject matter expertise

The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde. We welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time hours.

Experience required:

  • In-depth knowledge of ship control systems operations
  • Background in the Royal Navy submarine service
  • Experience managing submarine control rooms
  • Previous training delivery experience (desirable)
  • Recent Astute-class submarine experience (desirable)

Qualifications:

  • Warrant Officer or Senior Rating within the Royal Navy
  • DTC / DTTT qualification (advantageous)

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
