Shape the Future of Safer Engineering
The role
As a Senior Product and Process Safety Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering large-scale projects for global clients. This position will focus on advancing the safe design and operation of marine Cargo Handling Systems and Fuel Gas Systems used in the transportation and storage of liquefied gases such as LNG, LPG, LCO2, and emerging alternative fuels. In addition to supporting project delivery, the role will be instrumental in early-stage concept development, providing Product & Process Safety support for new technologies, novel products and evolving market areas.
Day‑to‑day responsibilities:
- Leading internal and external safety workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL determination and verification.
- Collaborating with New Product Development and Project teams to prioritise safety activities across global programmes.
- Managing documentation and ensuring compliance with quality management systems.
- Coordinating training and development for the safety engineering team.
- Overseeing direct reports and ensuring delivery of safety outputs to project timelines.
Hybrid working arrangements: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote.
Essential experience:
- Good working knowledge of Product and Process Safety systems; HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA.
- Familiarity with IEC 61511 – Functional safety – Safety instrumented systems for the process industry sector.
- Familiarity with software packages such as UNISIM and PHAST is desirable.
- Strong technical and analytical skill – specifically in process safety.
Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in Process, Chemical or related Engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience in Process Safety Engineering.
- We will consider Engineers desiring to return to work after a career break with appropriate previous experience.
Security Clearance:
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
