The role
As a Production Capability Lead - Electrical, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a central role in shaping the capability of our electrical production workforce across our marine engineering operations. This is a career-defining opportunity to lead the development, deployment and performance of electrical tradespeople working on some of the UK’s most important defence and engineering programmes.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll be:
- Leading and developing electrical trade capability across the site, ensuring our workforce remains competent, skilled and future‑ready.
- Managing supply, demand and resource planning, ensuring the right Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP) are deployed to priority programmes.
- Coordinating trade requirements with programme teams, ensuring skills align with operational needs.
- Supporting early careers pathways — apprentices, trainees and Production Support Operatives (PSOs) — ensuring training, mentoring and progression align to future business requirements.
- Enhancing safety, quality and efficiency by supporting investigations, analysing trends and contributing to improvements in tools, processes and PPE.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements – one day working from home.
Essential experience
- Time‑served in an electrical trade with extensive experience within an engineering operations environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering processes, compliance standards and safe working practices.
- Proven leadership capability with experience influencing and engaging across teams and senior stakeholders.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and multiple fast‑moving projects.
- Confident in using Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications
- Time‑served electrical trade qualification or equivalent.
- Additional leadership, training or workforce development‑related qualifications - Desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
